Dany Papineau is a bilingual actor, director and producer who was born in a French family in Bromont, Quebec.
At the age of 21, he interrupted his Civil Engineering university studies and left the province to travel the country and learn English in Western Canada. It's in Banff, in the heart of the Rockies, that he discovered his passion for the camera.
After a few years of traveling through North America, Dany went back to school and enrolled at the Vancouver Film School to pursue his dream and to study acting. After graduating, he obtained a grant from the National Film Board and started shooting 2 Frogs in the West, a short film inspired by his adventures in Western Canada. He directed and starred in the film, hoping to further develop it into a feature film version, in order to launch his career.
Over the years, 2 Frogs in the West came to life in its long version. Dany was involved as a writer, actor, director, producer and even distributor. This independent film was self-funded and self-distributed and has taken him over 9 years to achieve. It was first presented in theaters all across Quebec and then on the international scene, the movie was shown in nearly 30 film festivals and won 2 nominations and 3 awards. The DVD and iTunes downloads are now available worldwide via www.2frogs.ca
